Best trap for outdoor rats?

Pier and beam house and have two small dogs too. Thank you for your time.
ETA: Dogs will chase down rodents but cannot catch them. I don’t have many bc of the dogs but the couple that i have are finding holes to live in between the cinderblocks. I clean my grill every time I use it and we are mindful of putting food trash outside. Wife got a surprise possum that way. No more pizza boxes left on the back deck.
Ordered the “Just Takes One Bite”
Will try the 5 gallon bucket next

The electric traps work well, close second is heavy glue boards, if you truly only have a few. Reality is though that as long as there’s a food source then you likely have more than a few and you can’t trap them faster than they can reproduce, so you need to figure out what they’re attracted to and remove it. Bromethalin based poisons are the only things we’ve found to be effective over the long haul but we are extremely cautious with it around the dogs.

Check out the traps made with 5 gallon buckets half full of water, a wood ramp and a stiff wire from one side the top of the bucket to the other with soda cans skewered on it and covered in peanut butter.
U-tube has a lot of videos on this type trap. Rodents climb up the ramp and try to access the peanut butter by climbing on the soda cans. The cans rotate and drop the rodents in the water where they drown.

I was able to catch a few with something similar but they got wise to it quick. They’re pretty cautious when they aren’t starving, which is why the new generation poisons work. They will take a small taste of a new food source before going at it, but with the new stuff that taste is all it takes.

Find out what the food source is and REMOVE it. In the mean time go DIY Pest Control and purchase a kit from them. Multiple attacks on them and see what works best. Electronic Sonic Repeller's seem to work as well. Mine are battery powered. Kates Home & Garden Rodent Repellent works pretty well in a small confined area. Rodents can’t stand the smell of peppermint.
Have you seen your dogs hunting and killing rats. May not be their thing. A cat is definitely going to hunt them.
I live out in the country. Wood rats and field mice were a problem. Seem to have them under control for the most part.
Good luck. They sure can do some damage to wires, pipe insulation, house insulation and drywall. And they poop and pee EVERYWHERE…………

A cat, trust me tried a lot of diff traps. A cat will do it. Go find an adult cat keep it outside
