I complain about the 1-2 days of well-under-freezing weather LA has been having because it kills a lot of my plants at the camp. We have 4 seasons where we live and I don't mind the winter portion at all I just hate it when there is just enough of it to make the landscaping look like crap for 3 months.

Are the daily "its hot" threads already starting?

I'm left wondering how many of those posters never had A/C growing up or attended school without A/C.

I graduated in 70 and not a single school I went to from K-12 had A/C and lived in an old shotgun house that had no A/C----just a big whole house window fan that drew in air from outside-----hot during the day and not a lot better at night during the summer.

If you never had it, you didn't miss it.

Mid 90s in June. I guess we should prepare for 120 degree highs in late August.

Have to remember that we are just barely 40 years from coming out of the Mini Ice Age( so it does make sense that it has got a little warmer since then.

Your timeline is almost perfect

But the more obvious trend is the winters are shorter and milder, with one or two cold spells that are short lived. The leaves turn a few weeks later and spring comes earlier.

remember a few years ago the entire state of Texas was without power because of cold weather?

This is the coolest spring I remember in a long time. May has been very mild thus far. Last year we didn't even have a spring. It was like straight to summer from fall.

It seems about normal. Last year was pretty terrible, mostly due to no rain to keep the temps in check. This year has seemed just about average. I use WeatherUnderground's network of local weather stations to track stuff. The temps are probably higher than "official" likely because stations are just stuck out on a pole, maybe against a house? But you can track trends for sure.

Here are 2022, 2023 and 2024 MTD for May.

There hasn't been a day yet with it in the mid 90s. There's only been one day so far where it's broken 90. If anything things are a little cooler than normal for this time of year.

2 years ago an underwater volcano added at least 10% to the water vapor in the atmosphere of the entire planet. Water vapor is a primary driver of global warming. The expectations are for this year and 2 more years to come for above normal temperatures. Not seen valid predictions about rain or lack thereof as that much added water in the atmosphere has disrupted weather patterns worldwide.

This is faux science pushed by right wingers. The primary driver of global warming is cow farts and F-250s

Here’s hoping our rain totals for the summer will be better this summer.

One week on the 90’s and then back to 80’s…

As for rain I got 8” in two events last week.

Last year I want to the beach for Memorial day weekend it was in the high 70s and low 80s - we had a major heat wave last summer.

This year it will be in the high 80s.

We have molded generations to fear weather and look for reasons or answers. Weather changes, there is no normal, accept waht 200 years of statistics tries to determine as normal, or what people are used to in their short lives.

My great grandfather told me we would never see winters like he had. The state that he grew up in had record cold and snow fall between 2005 and 2010.

Where I grew up I only experienced one hurricane before I was 21. My dad who was born in the 30s talked about how bad the hurricanes were when he was little. He remembers 3 in one year.

91 in Alex. Isn’t this pretty normal for late May? Evenings and mornings pleasant.

But it’s gonna be hot. It won’t be as hot as last year. That is damn near statistically impossible
