I hoped last summer’s heat would be a one off, but it doesn’t appear it was.

The temperature is already reaching the mid 90s and it’s not even June. Oh well. I guess this will be our new normal. Here’s hoping our rain totals for the summer will be better this summer.

Are the daily "its hot" threads already starting?

Imagine constantly posting about how soft you are.

Imagine being soft enough to make a post complaining about people posting.

Dobyou work outside?

If so, then hydrate and take breaks in the shade. I work outside every single day. Yesterday I cut down two oaks and bucked them. Today I'm going to the dump then cutting hay. It's hot but oh well.

If you don't, then quit being a bitch.

Every a-hole that complained about our one week of winter should be forced to do manual labor outside June-August with no water breaks.

I ain’t no weatherman, but based on the GFS, the next 15 days are setting up as dry and not ridiculously hot.

I’ve lived in east Texas since the Carter administration.

The summers have gotten warmer, especially the morning lows. I remember we’d sometimes open windows to cool off at night but those days are long gone.

But the more obvious trend is the winters are shorter and milder, with one or two cold spells that are short lived. The leaves turn a few weeks later and spring comes earlier.

Nothing political about that, just reality.

This phrase was the worst thing to come out of the Covid pandemic

The worst thing to come out of the COVID pandemic is people who just started paying attention thinking everything started due to COVID.

Just go to Wikipedia to see how old that phrase is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_normal

quote:

In 1918, Henry A. Wise Wood posted a dilemma,

quote:

To consider the problems before us we must divide our epoch into three periods, that of war, that of transition, that of the new normal, which undoubtedly will supersede the old. The questions before us, therefore, are, broadly, two: How shall we pass from war to the new normal with the least jar, in the shortest time? In what respect should the new normal be shaped to differ from the old?

quote:

quote:

Robert A. Heinlein used the phrase in his 1966 novel The Moon Is a Harsh Mistress, with a character telling lunar colonists:

Citizens, requests may reach you through your comrade neighbors. I hope you will comply willingly; it will speed the day when I can bow out and life can get back to normal — a new normal, free of the Authority, free of guards, free of troops stationed on us, free of passports and searches and arbitrary arrests.

Heck, there was a short-lived sitcom in 2012/2013 called The New Normal

Reality is that the planet’s climate is constantly changing. And there isn’t a damn thing humanity can do about it.

You have not been paying attention.

2 years ago an underwater volcano added at least 10% to the water vapor in the atmosphere of the entire planet. Water vapor is a primary driver of global warming.

The expectations are for this year and 2 more years to come for above normal temperatures. Not seen valid predictions about rain or lack thereof as that much added water in the atmosphere has disrupted weather patterns worldwide.

If only you stopped driving your F150 sooner, it would snow in Louisiana in May like it used to.
