I think it could actually benefit LSU to be a 4 seed in a regional. The 1 seed would be forced to throw their 1 vs our 1 instead of them saving their 1 and 2 for the second and third game. LSU has been the strongest all year in games 1 and 2. Jump vs 1 seed, Holman in the winners bracket, then pray to win 1 of 2 in the championship. I know cart before horse.

Some of you act like you have never watched college baseball before. They aren’t going to be a four seed in a regional

You should keep those thoughts to yourself. LSU will never be a 4 seed.

Well dandy Don thinks they will be. I hadn’t even considered it before he mentioned it. Typically a 3 is as low as an at large would be.

When's the last time you've seen an SEC at large team as a 4 seed? It doesn't happen. It's like in basketball Duke sneaking into the last spot as a 16 seed. It doesn't happen.

Aren’t 4 seeds reserved for automatic qualifiers from small conferences?

When the last time you saw a conference with 10 at large bids? It could happen. Probably won’t.

I haven’t actually looked at how many low AQs there are. If it is less than 16 then somebody that is an AQ will be a 4 seed.

If this is true then you should avoid getting info from that site. He just made you look like a fool for running here and starting this thread.

Last year, all 4 seeds were smaller schools. Tulane and Nichols were 4 seeds.

No it can’t happen. At large teams don’t receive 4 seeds. Teams that are on the bubble to get in the tournament have pretty good overall records and RPIs in the 20s, 30s, and perhaps 40s.

4 seeds are the teams with barely .500 records and RPIs in the mid 100s and above who happen to win their conference tournament.

As long as they get in I don’t care of their seedling

Just bow out before it gets even worse for you. Hope that an admin does you a favor and anchors this thread.

Dandy Don said likely a 3 seed answering a question asking if we would be a 4 seed.

Is a poor thread title and you should probably not start a thread for every random thought you have.

With that said, as has been expressed multiple times before, most or all of the 4 seeds will be auto-qualifiers from fringe conferences. All of the 4 seeds will probably have an RPI below 48. Do not mistake being in the last 4 in with being the lowest 4 seeds. Once all the teams are selected they will seed them accordingly, mostly via RPI or KPI.

The only reason LSU is not a lock right now is because the committee feels compelled to "spread the wealth" amongst conferences rather than going purely based solely on the perceived strengths of a team using RPI or KPI. So being caught up in a log jam of 13-17 SEC teams makes for some drama because every team after the 8th is selected for any conference is a nail-biter hoping to get an invite.

But to answer your question, no, I think LSU would likely be a three-seed, and an auto-qualifier champion of a smaller conference would likely be 4.

It literally took me 10 seconds to pull that quote from the front page of Dandy Don’s website

lol. This is a board. So funny how important people on the internet think they or their opinion are. I don’t get my feelings hurt.

To be clear I’ve never thought lsu would be a 4 seed. I’ve never remember a power five as a 4 seed. Even ole Miss in 2022 as the last team in was a 3 seed. The only reason I had the thought was a post by a reader on dandy Don and his sons response.

And that thought led to how it would actually benefit lsu to play the 1 seed in the first game.

But we never actually discussed that.
