I need help making a decision this morning....
my vv favorite infusion patient- the one who lives in Florence Al, has been vv ill and is still in the ICU at UAB.
He is elderly, widowed, and disabled from a right above the knee amputation.
He has 3 grown children who all work full time and live away from him.
Thus he is quite lonely.
When I see him for his infusions, I always bring him breakfast and we've become 'breakfast buddies' now :hearts:
He was on the ventilator for a while with a very grim prognosis, but has made terrific improvements and is off the vent and doing so much better- but is still critical in the ICU.
I've been in touch with his daughter several times each week getting updates on him and have discussed with her the possibility of me driving to UAB to see him. She's told me numerous times that he would love that and her famiy would love it as well as it would cheer him up immensely.
So I have their blessing to visit him, and I have an open schedule today to make the drive to UAB to see him... the only thing is that it is a 4 hour one way trip and it's such a pretty day- I feel selfish for wanting to stay home and tinker around my house instead of going to see my fave patient.
I fear I will regret not going should he take another turn for the worse...
what to do?
