There are many households with one parent staying home with the children and one parent working making $100k/year. You definitely have to stick to a budget and forgo new automobiles, expensive vacations, latest tech gadgetry, etc. but you can raise a couple of kids on $100k in the Midwest and South.

frick. 100k is extra luxurious in some of the areas around me. I know some single income households raising multiple kids on $30k a year.
