In all seriousness, is this a real place? I’m less than 30 miles away and have never heard of it.

Catfish John use to have two places both in Springdale and Rogers. The Springdale location closed years ago. John passed away a few years ago.

I have eaten at both Catfish Hole locations. The one in Fayetteville was pretty good until Pat passed away and they started making a few changes. They began charging 75 cents for one honey butter sauce and the fillets got smaller, I didn't go back for awhile.

I went again two weeks ago and it was much better, I didn't order any honey butter sauce though. So I don't know if they still charge for it.

Yes it's real. I used Google maps to find it.

There's a country diner in Carrierre, MS called Sherral's. They do a lunch buffet which is great, and on days they have catfish, it is some of my favorite. You can also order off the menu if buffets aren't your thing.

Another vote for Roy's. Also hands-down the best fried oysters on planet earth. Ridiculously cheap.

Monroe has excellent catfish with Catfish Cabin,Warehouse, and Catfish Charlie’s. Mohawk and Scott’s run great fryers, too.

This. Monroe can fry a catfish. And when Mohawk is on it's really hard to beat.

And I've never understood people ordering the thin fillets and Middendorfs and bitching about them being too thin and all breading. Order the regular fillets.

The original closed years ago. I think they reopened in Springfield. It might be different owners though.

You claimed to be a guru but named chain restaurants with a kitchen full of Mexican workers?

Yes it’s real and has been open for as long as I can remember. I grew up a couple of miles from there and we used to get fish every Friday night.

i feel bad that you stepped foot in that atrocious place. shreveport has at least 5-6 better catfish options. r&c is barely edible

Middendorf's

I'm gonna buck the system and say Middendorf's is way overrated. It's too thin. You get a mouthful of fried batter with no filet sometimes.

if only you had ordered it as thick fish, thats what happens when you ask, you get all sorts of choices you didnt know about

You don’t even have to ask. It’s literally in the line underneath Middendorfs Special (thin fried catfish option).
