They are notorious for not cranking BECAUSE they are low on oil. Add some oil every day and check periodically.

Wouldn’t run more that 20 hours straight without changing the oil. Ideally you want to run it a couple hours then kill it for a hour to let the oil cool down. Main reason so many folks have problems with the whole house generators…… they have a duty cycle and it’s nowhere near 100%. Run the generator but have a fan blowing at the engine to help with the heat if possible. Good luck

Manuals for gasoline generators will give different intervals of continuous run time normally 150-200 hours. The 150 to 200 hour mark is normally where you need to do more maintenance over just the normal oil change like changing spark plugs, air filter, check the valve clearances, etc.
However, generators run at a consistent speed. They can pretty much run forever. Just make sure that you are changing the oil at the required intervals.
Standby home generators will typically say don’t run them for more than 500 hours continuous. And diesel is anywhere from 10,000 hours to 50,000 hours. Same with those. Regular oil changes and maintenance based on the manual. And then the additional maintenance once you get to the higher intervals.

Same happened to me. Not sure if it is the same issue, but I let mine run for quite a while on choke and then switched it over. Hope you get it working. After that, I keep it a little bit of fuel with stabilizer in it and crank it monthly.

It was dying on choke too. Choke was the only way it would start to turn over. I did spray some starter fluid in the carburetor via the air intake, but it would still die.
I added some fuel stabilizer to the gas, but my next step is to completely empty the tank and put some fresh gas before removing the carburetor. I may even change the fuel filter too.
