Perhaps I need to adjust to the new NBA. But whenever I see a contested step back 3, I automatically think it's a stupid shot. But then these guys make it and I have nothing to say.

Statistically it is a stupid shot for MOST players. Only about 10 guys have comparable step back three percentages to their overall three point percentage. For most three point shooters their make percentage on step back threes is in the mid to high 20s or lower.
