We will be fine but the next few years are going to be unsettling as things get situated with NIL and the market fluctuation. We aren't what pro leagues would call a "large market" program. Don't have to be to maintain what we are. A very good program with perceived elite potential. We've been elite exactly twice in our history(and didn't win the title in 11). 03 is debatable and 07 laughable(in terms of being elite).
To me the question remains, have we placed expectations of the program on an unreachable pedestal? I believe we have. The gift and curse of 3 titles. NIL will increase the height of that pedestal in the short term imo. The state isnt productive enough in every area to fully support an elite program. Particularly if NIL lessens our monopoly on the talent. These next 2 classes of instate talent will tell the tale. With this staff and it's ties to the state, there are no excuses left.

You're melting.
LSU can set itself apart by continuing to hire the best coaches in the game and developing players better than any other program.

We are LSU, one of the top 5 brands in college sports! You're fricking nuts if you think we can't compete in all sports. And hopefully we'll continue to get better in academics and God willing, as a state. In the past 5 years we've won championships in football, baseball, women's basketball and gymnastics. Not to mention 2 heisman trophy winners, Skeenes, Nabers, btj, two of the most famous and richest young women in sports, Livvy and Angel! The LSU brand has never been better.

2 national championships
3 national championship appearances
4 conference championships
5 conference championship appearances
6 11+ win seasons

quote:LSU has enough money to do it the way they want to do it. Get elite players, get good players, get low ranked but high potential players, guys who want to be here, and develop them all. Something many of you whiny assholes tend to never talk about is that LSU has yet to lose a player they really wanted to another university based purely on money. See unlike many fools like you, they understand retaining your good players is the way to go. Not one LSU starter has tested the NIL market. When you grab character kids, show them that developing them for a high paying future over the most upfront money is the way to go, you have way less hassles in the long run. LSU's model will prove to be extremely successful over time. You're just the typical blind mouse who can't see the vision.
The state isnt productive enough in every area to fully support an elite program. Particularly if NIL lessens our monopoly on the talent.
I really wish the Admins would make a seperate board only for whiny children so the adults can talk like "sane" recruiting fans. All this bitching every day for the last couple of years is extremely fricking annoying.

Neither is Kansas City but that doesn't stop stop players from signing there and playing in Super Bowls.
And besides we all know that Louisiana is a top 5 state of high school football recruits. We'll get ours even if it's a 3 star WR and a Louisiana 3 star WR is probably a 4 star in almost any other state.

And you proceed to post absolutely no evidence whatsoever to back up your ridiculous statement. LSU is:
-in a major city, especially for college football, in a major football state
-one of the highest grossing athletic programs in the country
-an excellent brand with a ton of pro representation
-regularly top 3 in the SEC and top 5 nationally in football attendance
-very flush with major money donors
You are fricking retarded if you don’t think LSU would be in the top 10 if you researched “major market college football program factors” and averaged them out.
