I admit I hate this new world of recruiting year to year with high school and your current roster. Every year is free agency.

I love following high school recruiting but we know to not be excited about a 5* from out of state committing early.

The state of Louisiana produces WR talents that always proves itself. Some kid last named Martin might deserve a chance but who knows…

Understanding the new landscape with NIL means the biggest bag will ultimately win at the end of the day unless a natty is guaranteed

LSU will always get talent. Offensively it’s going fantastic but I understand the criticism on defense.

I think Woody had a plan and we all saw the shite show. Bringing Blake and Bo is the new blood needed

Alignment

I know we’re all pissed about the DT situation but there are two coaches who hold rank with DL it’s the OSU guy and Bo Davis.

We will be fine but the next few years are going to be unsettling as things get situated with NIL and the market fluctuation. We aren't what pro leagues would call a "large market" program. Don't have to be to maintain what we are. A very good program with perceived elite potential. We've been elite exactly twice in our history(and didn't win the title in 11). 03 is debatable and 07 laughable(in terms of being elite).
To me the question remains, have we placed expectations of the program on an unreachable pedestal? I believe we have. The gift and curse of 3 titles. NIL will increase the height of that pedestal in the short term imo. The state isnt productive enough in every area to fully support an elite program. Particularly if NIL lessens our monopoly on the talent. These next 2 classes of instate talent will tell the tale. With this staff and it's ties to the state, there are no excuses left.

You're melting.

LSU can set itself apart by continuing to hire the best coaches in the game and developing players better than any other program.

It really use to be fun and still is just not as much, now seems like most players will be a 1 yr rental. I think with how the portal is now unlimited amount of times you can enter. I'm ok with just focusing on Louisiana 80% of class remaining from Texas and Mississippi probably 1 or 2 from far off. Seeing players enter portal in January commit, decommit, and commit again is ridiculous just in spring window.

We will be fine just get players that want to be here and ready to work for it.

More downvotes PLEASE! lol

We are LSU, one of the top 5 brands in college sports! You're fricking nuts if you think we can't compete in all sports. And hopefully we'll continue to get better in academics and God willing, as a state. In the past 5 years we've won championships in football, baseball, women's basketball and gymnastics. Not to mention 2 heisman trophy winners, Skeenes, Nabers, btj, two of the most famous and richest young women in sports, Livvy and Angel! The LSU brand has never been better.

The next 2 years will likely be the best recruiting hauls in LSU history in a 2 year span.

we are a large market program. Being a large market program and being the Dallas Cowboys are 2 completely different things.

What a complete dickwad dumbass. Outside of Clemson, Bama, and now UGA, every other university would have killed for our 01-11 era.
2 national championships
3 national championship appearances
4 conference championships
5 conference championship appearances
6 11+ win seasons

LSU has the same expectations as UGA for a reason. So many of you want instant success instead of a firmly built program.

LSU has enough money to do it the way they want to do it. Get elite players, get good players, get low ranked but high potential players, guys who want to be here, and develop them all. Something many of you whiny assholes tend to never talk about is that LSU has yet to lose a player they really wanted to another university based purely on money. See unlike many fools like you, they understand retaining your good players is the way to go. Not one LSU starter has tested the NIL market. When you grab character kids, show them that developing them for a high paying future over the most upfront money is the way to go, you have way less hassles in the long run. LSU's model will prove to be extremely successful over time. You're just the typical blind mouse who can't see the vision.

I really wish the Admins would make a seperate board only for whiny children so the adults can talk like "sane" recruiting fans. All this bitching every day for the last couple of years is extremely fricking annoying.

The NIL landscape will start getting under control once teams begin to learn it's limits. You can fill some holes buying free agents and recruits with NIL, but buying a team doesn't seem to work. A&M tried that, and it was a mess.

I'm told we're going to have to watch out for Ole Miss, which has the best transfer portal haul. I'm betting they are going to take a step back. Ole Miss has 22 commits from the portal (over a quarter of their team). Are they going to be comfortable with the system and their teammates in the first year? Are they going to be able to play at their peak? I doubt it. Joe Burrow of 2018 (his first year) sure as hell wasn't Joe Burrow of 2019.

Sure, some of the guys from the transfer portal will be big in their first year, but I suspect there's likely to be a lot more that don't live up to the billing. And Ole Miss (22 portal commits) isn't the only team that brought in a bunch (Washington-28, A&M-27, South Carolina-22, Florida State-17, Alabama-15, Florida-15, USC-15, Oklahoma-15). I bet all those teams take a step back. And you know what? If all those teams are taking a step back, LSU is in really good shape. Pretty much everyone on our schedule went heavy into the portal.

I saw it coming. The same thing happened in 2020 with Rakim Jarrett and Jermaine Burton.

The following class we got Louisiana kids that ended up 1st rounders. Jarrett went undrafted and Burton had a decent career... but nothing special.

The 5-star kids know they have all of the leverage. They can go somewhere year 1, get a crazy amount of money, and transfer agter year 1. I don't agree with it but I honestly don't blame them.

Neither is Kansas City but that doesn't stop stop players from signing there and playing in Super Bowls.

And besides we all know that Louisiana is a top 5 state of high school football recruits. We'll get ours even if it's a 3 star WR and a Louisiana 3 star WR is probably a 4 star in almost any other state.

Yeah, I remember a couple of summers ago, this board was beside itself due to lack of commitments then in early July, we had like 5 or 6 commitments in one week.
