They re- paved a highway by my house. Guy wants to sell it for $60 per yard delivered a mile away. Good deal?

I've heard about scams that sound similar to this.
I would check out the seller's background, if you don't know him, and ask some local companies about their prices.

They usually haul that stuff back to the plant and recycle it back into the new material. If some chode is selling it off a job site, chances are it's stolen

Don’t. You will be patching that shite forever.

That can depend on fuel prices and how far it is back to the plant. Ground asphalt, or "recycle" is good stuff. On the hot days of summer. you can spray diesel on it and re-work it smooth-ish. The tar is still there, it's just hard.

Plus this. It is stolen/already paid for by DOT or county. They had leftover material and are trying to get paid twice for shite left on the truck. Tell him half or frick off.
Crazy how I just had this happen. Over 40k later my boss learned it wasn’t just “left over and we need to clean out our trucks”. Had more to do but he wouldn’t come down low enough. I told him 1/2 price but he wouldn’t come down past 72%. Told him no thank you. This wasn’t asphalt but a different material.

You have taught me something!

Well, is $60 bucks a yard a good price?

I was about to say the same thing
Diesel makes it soft again and that it’ll harden back ip and make a nice parking lot / driveway

It’s not stolen. They just don’t want to haul it far away. When they re-surfaced highway in front my house they sold the ground up asphalt to anyone who would buy it.
Father in law bought some and we noticed it does not compact well at all and he regretted buying it.

Asphalt millings. About 800 for s triaxle load around here if you can find it.

You can probably get it fresh for the same price. I don’t think think the recycled will be a workable size for you either.

Ok so $800 for a tri axle is 15 yards, so $53 a yard. You are actually paying more at $60
Tandem axle 12 yards
Tri axle 15 yards.
There’s a big discrepancy on what you get when you get materials delivered, and I’ve had a hard time getting straight answers, but some drivers have told me that others say that they are bringing what their bed can carry, but the gravel yard will never fill it up because the driver and yard can both get fined.
They’ll quote 500 for 15 yards and only bring 12 and you are none the wiser, but you pick them because the honest driver says $500 for 12 yards, and it seems more expensive.
