Assuming Denver holds on, we are in for a real treat of prime Jokic vs prime Doncic in a playoff series, each with comparable supporting casts.

The series will hinge on Aaron Gordon, Michael Porter and PJ Washington. Luka, Joker, Murray and Kyrie are all going to get theirs and average 20+ PPG. Gordon/Porter/Washington are the guys who have shown the ability to very clearly be the third best players on their respective teams and drop consistently impressive stat lines, but who also routinely disappear for long stretches. Denver has the advantage just because they have more guys who can really hurt you, but if PJ outplays any #3 for Denver like he did against OKC Dallas has a good shot.

if he retired today he’d have the greatest all around career stat line in league history. No player has ever averaged more combined points/assists/rebounds over a career, or through their first six seasons.

And it would be all for nought. No HOF, no rings, just an anecdote in the history of the game. A "what if" or "do you remember" player. Drazen Petrovic if you will. Forgotten like it never happened for all intents and purposes. Have to love sports fans and our hyperbolic heroes.

Harden has been to more finals, more second rounds, better career win % In the playoffs and postseason. I guess if only “conference finals appearances” are important you may have a W.

Harden held Luka to 29% fg when guarding him in the series. They are not really close on D.

It’s almost as if Harden is 10 years older than Luka.

I love Luka but harden has the 6th best BPM in this years playoffs. Out of all players. Luke isn’t ahead of him fwiw.

Same ball dominant style that puts up numbers, but not winning basketball.

Jim Harden in games 5 and 6:

7-28 fgs
1/13 3pa

Coming up small in the playoffs. What else is new.

Luka is 25 and already in bad shape

I'm not sure why this isn't more talked about. He has bad knees. At 25.

Feels like he's going to be Larry Bird 2.0. Going to be insane for a decade and then it's all going to break down via injury after injury.

You really just compared Petrovic to Luka? Your entire post may be the worst I’ve ever seen on this site. Think about what that is saying.

So in the argument for starting on any all time team? I think Luca and the mavs and every other fan in the country would sign up immediately to get a Larry Bird 2.0

Kinda hard to say a guy has knee problems when he’s never had a single knee surgery, or even major knee injury, and just misses a few games per year due to minor knee issues. Bird first seriously injured his back just 4 years into his career and was told he needed surgery as early as 1986, though he put it off until 1991 I think.

But regardless, Larry Bird is unanimously one of the 10 greatest basketball players ever. Being Larry Bird 2.0 is a feature, not a bug

He is only in his 6th season and already missed 92 games. Without having any major injuries. He has 38 year old dad bod as a 25 year old professional athlete. He looks like he's never seen a gym and his diet must be awful.

I'm not sure why anyone would assume he will hold up. Especially if he starts to make deep playoff runs. Those miles add up.
