Your wife has left you and you are in denial.
Block the money and get a lawyer.
What else do you want to hear?

FWIW baker act is only in the state of Florida as far as I know and it’s for suicidal issues. When someone is attempting to hurt themselves.
You can also call the police and they can baker act. But this doesn’t sound like a baker act.
Have you tried tracking her phone or her car? If you are an owner of both I’d assume that’s perfectly legal to do? Ask an attorney.
You need to seek a mean arse attorney asap and protect yourself, your children, and your finances.
ETA: it sure sounds like drugs to me OP. Withdraw of cash, random crazy behavior, mood swings, etc. all screams drugs.
Idk if there’s a legal way to drug test a spouse like just taking some hair off a brush?

Sounds very similar to someone I know who got hooked on pills late 40's.
She eventually overdosed on morphine/various other prescription meds when she was 53.
No one even suspected she had any kind of access to morphine.

What is her reasoning for only having the youngest child with her? Are the others 18 or close? She will get child support for the youngest for the longest, so keeping the kid might be an investment. Or, she is PASing the child against you (parental alienation syndrome) so the child can be a witness for her.
What you describe isn’t a mental health crisis unless there is more you aren’t saying. She’s building her nest egg, getting her ducks in a row, and building her case. A non-working ex with 4 kids will drain you in alimony and child support. You need a lawyer yesterday.

What is she doing that makes you think she is going through a mental health crisis?
If it’s what you described in your OP, that’s not a mental health crisis; that is straight up shrewdly getting her ducks in a row to leave you.
How old are your kids?
So sorry you and your kids are going through this.
Like many posters have already stated, get a PI and a lawyer ASAP.

Lot of good advice here. I was in denial when my wife started “acting weird”. She cleaned out our savings account and filed for divorce…telling all friends and family she thought I was cheating. She was the one cheating. Luckily no children. Be prepared to encounter the most cruel person ever…any “love” is gone. Focus on getting custody of your children and retain all possessions you can. You can bet your arse she’s coming after all she can get. Good luck.

If you are reluctant to file for divorce because you think she is going through a mental health crisis then look at it this way..
1- you can always get remarried after she gets some help. You can still be around to help her out.
As mentioned multiple times....
2- you must protect your kids
3- you must protect your assets and your credit.
This is now business so dont let emotions get in the way. Go see a lawyer NOW!

Dick addiction is free so it’s probably not that at least.

That is not a complicated question at all. It sounds like your wife has an obvious drug problem. Lawyer up immediately and stop arguing with her unless you want to get accused of domestic violence.

She’s getting the big Stromboli with a side of crack.

Fair point- in February, she got arrested for DV- since that date, it’s gotten stupid worse, no violence but we have been arguing a ton/ mainly bc she does out of ordinary behaviors for her and i call her out and she gets pissed.
She was arrested for DV a few months ago? What exactly occurred? Is she being prosecuted?

She is possibly having the beginning of a manic episode. Unexplainable shopping out of the blue like you are describing is not uncommon.
You should…at a minimum…have an understanding of the steps involved with having her picked up. You don’t want to start figuring this all out only if/when things get totally out of hand. Do you have a relationship with her family?
Has she been taking any new meds or does she have a family history of mental illness?

quote:She is now hooked on heroin. You need to get a lawyer and figure out your options, with the main one being divorce. This will not end well and it will not get better. Once divorced, she will sell her body for heroin. You will be able to find her on whatever websites they advertise themselves on. There is nothing you can do but protect yourself, your children, and your bank account. Do not wait.
Any thoughts?
