Rank them in order of preference. The original is 1. Then Live Free or Die Hard. Next is Die Hard with a Vengeance. 2 and 4 sucked.

Carson is correct. 1,3,2. The other two don’t even count.

I can confirm this is correct. 4 wasn’t awful but nowhere near the first 3. Die Hard 1 & Vengeance are exceptional movies

It's 1,2,3 for me. One is phenomenal. Two is pure 80s sequel cheese but I love it. Three is a great movie but feels completely different than one and two. I almost wish it was just a standalone Bruce Willis action flick. The connection been Simon and Hans felt really bolted on.

I've never seen the other ones.

Am I the only one on the movie board that knows these movies in order? Live free or die hard IS the 4th one!

For me:
Vengeance
Die Hard
Live free
Die Harder
Good day (haven’t seen it yet but heard it sucks)

1. Die Hard (1988)
2. Live Free or Die Hard (2007)
3. Die Hard with a Vengeance (1995)

Die Hard 2 (1990) was terrible in the theater. Haven't watched since.

A Good Day to Die Hard (2013) haven’t seen.

I've always thought this one is very underrated. Frankly, I like it as much as the original DH.

I tried watching the last one, his son in Russia iirc, and couldn't get into it at all. Never finished.

Die Hard is obviously number 1.

Die Hard with a Vengeance is more
entertaining and rewatchable than Die Hard 2…though it’s sneakily more of a “buddy movie with the guy from Die Hard”.

Die Hard 2 is the true sequel to Die Hard. It suffers compared to 3 because they weren’t really trying to add anything new to the story, just basically put him in the same situation again.

Live Free or Die Hard isn’t BAD, but at this point instead of John McClain being a “die hard” he was completely a comic book character. It was still a good movie with and interesting story, and decent acting.

A Good Day to Die Hard was a direct to video level script with a big budget and lots of action, but not much else. It was a let down and not a worthy conclusion to the series.
