I made surfboards a few years ago, but then we moved and I lost my workspace. May look at starting again, renting something in an light industrial park. Call the business "Tasty Rails".

Some kind of added value woodcraft.
I took woodworking in HS, and actually did some side cabinet making decades ago. Its very fulfilling work. I recently pic of a jewelry box I made in the 80s and its not bad.

I think being a cobbler would be cool as shite
A custom shoe or boot maker is far different than a cobbler. Except maybe in a big city there is basically no need for a cobbler anymore and you cannot make any money doing it. There is a legit reason why this trade / skill doesn’t really exist anymore.

I have an uncle and a cousin who turned fishing into a semi profession. My cousin even owns an artificial bait company out of the deal.
Another cousin turned weekend racecar driving into a NASCAR career.

cabinet making
It's actually big business here where I live.
I know of at least 30 custom cabinet shops locally and they all seem to do well.
It's not all fancy stuff either. Most of it is just custom size cabinets, made from real wood.
There's one family near me, that opened a small shop in the 60s and now have a multi billion dollar operation.

Forged in Fire made me think that metal/knife/sword making would be cool.

Every year during breast cancer awareness week I see an advertisement that Dillard's stores are offering free bra fittings by their certified experts. If I only had known that all I needed was a certificate for that, then I wouldn't have wasted six and a half years getting a doctorate in another discipline.

I keep saying I want to buy an old motel (route 66/old vacation destination type) and restore it boutique style for family and friends to visit.

Love working with wood, EXCEPT trim work in a house.
I've done a bit of cabinetry and its very fulfilling. I understand why craftsmen were once held in such high esteem.

My friend restores old mahogany boats.
There's a lot of money in it, but a lot of work too.
He has 1 that's almost finished that he's asking a quarter million $ for and a couple of others that are in progress.
