Does everyone still hate Yeskie or are we acknowledging the pitching improvement?

The first half of SEC, everyone wanted him fired. The improvement lately has been noticeable especially with guys like Little emerging. We were getting run ruled just 6 weeks ago. This weekend we gave up a total of 6 runs. Our guys are also walking less batters.

Been pretty solid since Knoxville
Sucks Cam isn't further along and also Hurd, tho

Too many important games for Cam to get reps. This summer is huge for him.

Hurd struggled most of last year as well
It’s not his stuff
He sits 95-97

Before the season the staff said they didn’t expect to him to really contribute this season. He had serious command issues coming in. The goal has always been to get him to improve and get him some experience so he’ll be dominating in the future.

To me the turning point was when CJJ said something along the lines of “being surprised by how we didn’t have any reliable arm out of BP except for Herring and he will need to look into it himself”. From that point on, I don’t know what he did behind the scene but it definitely worked and the pitching staff overall plays with more sense of urgency and chips on their shoulders.

I would hire a Hitting Coach first

Don't remember hearing that. I wasn't expecting him to make the rotation but thought the highest rated recruit to ever make it to campus would be ready to contribute out of the pen, at least.
Agreed this summer will be huge for him. Anyone know if he's heading anywhere? Would go to see him up here at the Cape but honestly a summer in BR working with the LHP whisperer Yeskie would work too

Yes the pitchers looked good. It also helps that ole miss doesn’t have a batter with more than a .300 avg lol

Jury is still out. We've played weaker teams in the second half of the schedule so they've looked better. A&M run ruled them in the Sunday game of that series. Jump and Holman are solid Friday and Saturday guys. Herring has been excellent. Little has improved. Hurd has been a disaster and Loer has been a major disappointment. It's probably more of a talent/depth issue than it is Yeskie.

In fairness to Yeskie, our offense didn’t do him many favors this year.

Still think our two strike pitches have a lot left to be desired. Happy with the limiting of runs for the most part lately. Little has been a surprise of late. Disappointed in Hurd. We needed him and still need him this season.

Are we going to ignore the fact that:
1. Hurd regressed heavily
2. The most difficult part of our SEC schedule was the first half of the year
3. Ole Miss flat out stinks
Batting did not help us at all this year but let’s not act like CJJ wasn’t pulling pitchers out way too early and that we had a favorable path to end the season. We should have at least 3 more SEC wins if it were not for our pitching blunders late in some games

We are 22nd in the nation in ERA
And 134th in the nation Batting Avg.
Yeskie is definitely not the problem

I don’t recall seeing any talks of that from “the staff” …TD speculation and rumors twirled about his command and ability to pitch in front of massive crowds, but most folks dismissed it bc he’s the highest rated recruit to even sign with LSU.
Makes a lot of us wonder *what* exactly had him graded that high other than a 97mph+ from the left side

I didn’t get to see all of his outings, but I was surprised that he was cruising in the low 90’s instead of consistently throwing 95+ coming in as a reliever. I’m not sure if it’s because he’s throwing something other than a 4 seam, he’s not throwing as hard as he could or if his arm isn’t capable of consistently throwing that velocity, but I thought it was strange.
His ranking was based off of his high speed/spin rate fastball as a lefty and his promising breaking ball. He had no real track record of pitchability
