I'm far from defending Howard here but it seems as though his point with the 1×1 thing is due to the system and taught/trained behavior. In essence saying math is man made and open to frickery as all things man made are. His point of multiply, it's meaning and how 1×1=1 does make sense in a way. You have one multiply it by one then you still have one. Not exactly logical. Just accepted. When something multiplies you never end up with what you started with. Except in math. Just spit balling. Maybe I'm just as high as he is.

Put down the weed, man! How is it not logical that something ONE time does not equal that same number? What kind of mental gymnastics are you trying to perform when the most basic of logic escapes you?

If you have a college degree, you should ask for a refund. Although I will say this is an impressive amount of stupid packed in to one paragraph.

Wow. Just wow. The mental gymnastics is more impressive than you proving that 1x1 =2.

This is LITERALLY why we have addition. Let me “splain” it to you in elementary terms.

If I have 1 apple and you need it 1 time. You only need 1 apple.

If you have 2 apples and only need them 1 time. You only need 2 total apples.

If you need 2 apples on two different occasions you’d need 4 apples.

Does this make sense you Jack arse. Haha

Try this.

Let’s say you have 10 buses with an equal number, let’s say 5, of people in them.

To find out how many people you have in total, multiply 10 (buses) x 5 (people in each bus). You get 50 people in total.

Now let’s say you have 1 bus and it has 1 person in it. Use the same formula to find the number of people in total: Number of buses times number of people in each bus.

1 x 1 = 1 person in total.

Math is man made in the same way that colors are man made in that both intend to describe and reflect the natural world, but neither influence what it describes.

You, like Mr. Howard, are struggling with 1x1=1 because you learned math as an abstract, arbitrary construct instead of a descriptive language. Fortunately, multiplication is an operation that’s easy to shift into natural language, so easy that it’s common for people to do so, albeit in an unusual construction: times.

At its most basic, multiplication is taking anything and then describing how many times over that thing exists in this context. An elephant, one time? You’ve got one elephant. An elephant, three times? You’ve got three elephants. Two elephants, four times? Eight elephants.

It’s not arbitrary; it’s descriptive.

So with apologies to Mr. Howard, no matter what you start with, if you have that thing one time, you’ll have exactly that thing. And if what you started with was exactly one thing, if you have it only one time, what you’re left with is…

Just that one.

Not sure if serious

You have 1

now answer how many times do you have 1 written above? You have it written 1 time. So 1 times 1 time = 1

Careful now; logic is a manmade construct taught by the system. In fact, it's a system itself.
