The people are friendly, and the cuisine is good……..I’ve got nothing else.

it's relatively easy to make a six figure income (compared to a lot of states) and the COL is low

the cities aren't bursting at the seams with transplants

If you live in LA, you are guaranteed to go on vacation in a nicer place than you live.

Fishing and most of my family and friends live there.

Trying to convince them to come to the free state of Florida, but sadly, it's not going to happen.

Exactly 12 minutes after a tornado destroyed the roadways and powerlines approaching the house, all of the men were out there moving trees and lines.

When the only path around a downed line was through a guy's round about brick driveway, he directed all traffic into his driveway.

Zero hesitation.

Also...

A few years ago, when outside agitators tried to get the locals riled up for a race riot, they may have stood out there, but they wanted nothing to do with the trash that was paid to show up.

Because there generally is nothing else. I do however like the overall easy attitudes about shite and no matter your socio-economic status, everyone's a little trashy around the edges.

Food and a conservative buffer from the blue haired mob. There isn't much more past that.

I left Louisiana for “greener” pastures but I still believe there are many redeeming qualities to the state:

Unique culture
Solid cuisine
The general charm of parts of New Orleans
Great fishing
Solid people for the most part

It's not cold.

If people did biatch so much, took some pride in their state and didn't expect the government to do everything, it would be better.

Look, Louisiana is a shithole. Objectively. But it does have some positives.

The people are bar none the most enjoyable to be around that I’ve experienced
The food is far better than any other comparable city or state (if you’re one of those people who think New Orleans has better food than NY, you’re just wrong)
I’m not a hunter or fisherman but from what I understand that is hard to beat

Are these things enough to make Louisiana worth spending the little time we have in life my home? Definitely not. But those are some nice attributes.

Last night at the baseball field was a humidity haze/fog, sack-to-leg sticking air, mosquitos, and a formidable termite swarm. It was quite a nice evening to watch a game!
