I despise it .. but I’m trying to understand it. To me, it’s a made up BS therapy world word.

I believe it’s a term women use bc most can’t stand to be wrong and don’t won’t men correcting and or debating them when they know the male count part has a valid point.

That’s my experience anyways.

Well you're wrong right off the bat.

Wrong again.

Nobody likes to be wrong. Both men and women have been using it lately BUT they are mostly using it incorrectly which is the actual thing you should be annoyed at.

It is just lying. Which is always bad. So I call it lying.

No matter the term it is a shitty thing to do.

It's a succinct description of a legitimate set of actions that are prevalent in many relationships but is more frequently used in inaccurate contexts.

People gaslight me in business all the time. When they screw up or don't deliver on their obligations, they'll come out of the gate swinging. "You can't be mad at me....I'm mad at you." That kind of stuff.

It's a valid word.

In my experience it’s a term mostly used by women when they are losing an argument or debate

It is typically used by women who have made up their mind as to a set of facts and threat they are right- any attempt to present the actual truth is deemed “gaslighting”. In the event they are willing to view the actual other side of the facts they then resort to calling their version “my truth”. I.e., they are always right.

It’s really stupid

I noticed chicks started saying it after it was constantly said on tik tok.

It’s basically adult women’s words like a 13 year old

Watch the movie

The husband manipulates the wife to make her think she’s crazy.

Real term that has a real, useful meaning. Take issue with people misusing the term, not with the term itself.

The term became popular on Reddit because it was a convenient way for sheep to dismiss anyone who believed in “conspiracy theories” which of course mostly were based in fact.

Thomas Edison pretty much led to it being obsolete. And LEDs ain’t too shabby either.

I love these threads

Herein we appear to have gaslighting within a thread about gaslighting and some reverse gaslighting, subliminal gaslighting, and passive aggressive gaslighting...

What does gaslighting really even mean, though?

I'll hang up and listen.

It’s like the word “trauma.”

Both have legitimate use cases.

Both have been coopted by neurotic nutcases in their endless pursuit of sympathy and attention.
