Diddy bought the beating tape from Hotel for $50k. Hotel should be investigated as well

The hotel sold a surveillance tape to a perpetrator for $50k.
Someone at the hotel reviewed and saw the footage of a crime.
Instead of telling Diddy frick off and bringing the tape to the police, Diddy was allowed to abuse for 8 years after this incident.
What other and whose other crimes is the hotel covering up by selling surveillance videos of crimes?
The victims of Diddy’s crimes should also sue the hotel chain for failure to report.

Hotel: "We don't have a team of 475 people watching every camera at all times, we store it all on a VMS. If a crime was reported and law enforcement asked us for the video records, we would have gladly, and within our policy, handed it over. This never occurred. We move for the case to be dismissed."
Judge: "Case dismissed".
Judge: "Case dismissed".

Are hotels mandatory reporters?

Is there a legal obligation to report a crime?
At what point does it become evidence?
Just asking, not disputing your point.

Diddy has that billionaire privilege.
People who have money can do and get away with things most of us normal folks can only dream of.

Plaintiff lawyer: Hi. So you say you can’t and don’t review all security footage on your properties, correct?
Hotel: Yes. That’s correct
Plaintiff lawyer: well let me ask you this. Say I’m staying at your hotel and I walk up to the front desk and say that I want to purchase security footage from your camera. Do you and your people simply take my money and give me the tape without reviewing it?
Let’s say you do review it before you sell it to me and there is a crime clearly evident occurring on the footage, what do you do then?
A step further, you believe that you have no duty to report any crime that you happen to see on your surveillance video at any point?
Hotel: if a crime is not reported then, correct we have no duty.
Plaintiff lawyer: ok you are going to go with that defense at trial?
Hote: yes
Plaintiff lawyer: see you in court.

Before that enthralling exchange there’d be a motion to dismiss for failure to state a cause of action.
And the hotel would have a strong argument to get the suit dismissed.

Oh I would love to argue that before a judge.
Inkeepers/hotels have the duty of reasonable care of being vigilant and protecting their guests from foreseeable risks. This includes protection from injuries and criminal acts caused by other guests and assaults and negligence from their own employees.
If one guest requests a surveillance tape in exchange for money or other consideration, and the hotel either reviews or doesn’t review the content and a crime is shown on that footage, I believe their duty has been breached.
No judge is going to dismiss my cause of action on an MSJ nor other pre trial motion to dismiss.
Downvote all you want.
Woman gets beat on their property.
Perp buys tape for $50k
Perp is accused of abusing others following abuse at hotel.
Judge ain’t dismissing a case against a hotel in a woman beating case.
My clients and I would win bigly.
Hotel is/ would be fricked.

Always have a back up.
You don’t just get rid of evidence like that. You gotta have leverage

I would argue they have a legal obligation to report from the moment someone from their organization either reviews the tape follows a very odd request to buy hotel security footage and/or they have a duty to at least review the contents of said tape following the very odd request to buy said tape.
Does the hotel really want to go with the defense, “ well yea we sold the tape. But we didn’t look at it before we gave it to Diddy.”
Oh really!?!!
So you are in the business of selling surveillance tape at your hotels to anyone or any guest that requests and is willing to purchase?
In that case we would like to purchase security footage of your outside pool cameras. Thanks

Not defending Diddy but that sounds like compelled speech to me so no thanks.
