Hard to say. Nolan Ryan lasted a long time.
look I like skenes but let be honest here for a sec. Pitchers that throw hard in today's day and age dont really have long careers and usually get their second tommy john surgery by their 5 year.

Strausberg was supposed the be a phenom as well and crapped out after 12 years. Strider had tommy John in 19 and and a recent elbow surgery. And the best pitcher in baseball (degrom) cant stay healthy.

The days of guys that throw 100 mph+ fastballs and end up having Nolan Ryan type career are gone. For that matter, probably wont see anymore 300 game winners for a while

Skenes will probably be done in like 6-9 years with right around 90 career wins.

Difference w Skenes is he didn’t start pitching until his junior year of high school, and didn’t pitch much. His senior year was cancelled due to COVID. He was a relief pitcher his freshman year of college and his first season throwing a lot of innings was last year. He doesn’t have near the wear on his arm your typical pitcher of this generation has

Unless they plan on shortening games to six innings, you’ll never see another 300 game winner

Hopefully he pitches more than 12 years but Sandy Koufax pitched 12 years and is still considered one of the best ever.
