Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion."
As you quoted the first was specifically written to limit Congress only and incorporated to the states by the Supreme Court long after the Constitution’s adoption and almost 80 years after the 14th amendment’s ratification, which was used by Supreme Court to incorporate. Grant pushed the failed Blaine amendment because the 14th amendment’s intent when written and ratified wasn’t to incorporate and apply the 1st’s specific limit on Congress to the states.
Regardless the 10 commandments are included in several federal buildings including Moses holding them in the Supreme Court building. Also in various state govt buildings.
I don’t know what this particular program in Louisiana is being set up to do, but the 10 commandments can be part of a public school setting in a historical or a social context. The lemon test is done.

So glad to hear Morality is the focus of this year's legislative session
Have you not been paying attention to the culture destruction happening in schools the last several years? Do you seriously think putting God back into the thoughts and minds of our youth is a bad thing?
And seriously, do you truly believe that Governors and Legislatures can't work on more than one thing at a time? It's hilarious how when the Gov says or does one thing there is this cabal of whiners who sky scream "this is what you focus on when X, X and X need fixing???" People have a tremendous ability to multitask and focus on different agenda items. It's not a situation of "We just put God back into schools so now we are done for the year."
Settle down, buttercup.

But hey, let's look at it this way. It appears they're getting all that shite passed and out of the way this session. So next Spring, we should be ready for some real fiscal reform, government prioritization and tax reform bills, right?

Well, morality is the most broken aspect of the current state of society. I’m not saying that this is going to fix morality. And, I am 100% against government forcing whatever the current administration’s ideas of morality on the people. But, people’s broken moral compasses are the root of most of society’s problems. Greed, corruption, selfishness, jealousy, malice, sloth, sexual immorality- all have (IMO) put us where we are today. No amount of legislation is going to fix people. But, reminding people of the objective moral standards that made this nation the greatest nation in the history of the world is a good thing- and the most sensible place to start. America is “one nation, under God.” We’re free to worship Him in our own way, and we’re free to abstain altogether. But the more that choose the latter, the worse things will get.
Criminals go to church.
You don't need religion to tell you not to kill people or steal. Every human being knows its wrong. Making people fear "god" does nothing b/c "god" isn't going to do shite when someone breaks one of his commandments.
the problem we have is there are little to no consequences for breaking the law these days. Our judicial system is being manipulated by piece of shite lawyers, and our law enforcement doesn't enforce the laws with the prooper consequences.

Do you honestly not see a distinction between historical wall carvings and placing informational posters up in elementary school classrooms? I’m genuinely curious.

A coworker - who voted for JL - said she was shocked the first time she actually heard him speak. She said he sounds like a bumpkin! The whole LSU basketball spat really turned her off to voting for him again.
So why the shite did she vote for him in the first place?

It is probably the fault of religious nut jobs who want to ignore the parts of the Constitution they don't like that we have the internal fractures we have today.
Our country was founded by people who EXPLICITLY wanted to keep religion out of government.

Do you believe the declining moral standards in America are due to Christianity?

Just to clarify, IGWT was added to coinage during the civil war by this board’s favorite president, Abe Lincoln.
But it was in fact in the 1950s when it was made the national motto and placed on paper currency. And Under God was added to the pledge in the 50s as well.
I agree with your over arching point, but I try to be even handed in my nit picky corrections

Yea man, religious values are what have made society decline.

Fortunately it was fairly recently, so it wasn’t hard to google, but just fyi that we reuse bill numbers every legislative session, so there’s a different HB 8 every session.
I'm glad you figured it out. I was lost how this had anything to do with standardized testing appeals.
