For the majority of players its was foolish to opt in. EA established a pool for everyone to split evenly. After a decade of fighting, the original group got about $250…now a decade later, 90% of the players opted in for $500.

The real winners will be those that declined, since EA negotiated individually with the opt outs. Given the bad optics of random generated jerseys, I think all the starters will be filled by release, with substantially better arrangements.

Next year’s release will be a circus when teammates inevitably start collectively bargaining for by positions or groups. I expect EA will start upcharging for rosters.

Do people care about this shite this much? Give me 600 bucks and a copy of the game and let me play with my own team and my boys.

Not sure if you're aware, but people create custom rosters and update them regularly.

The player will be in the game whether they know it or not

Did they? Seems like that would set a terrible precedent for them.

For this reason.

With fully customizable rosters, no one cares if Arch Manning is actually built in.

Victim mentality ruins everything it touches. Whine less.

NILs paired with a wide open transfer portal will rot long-standing traditions that made college football special for the past 70 years.

No they didn’t. They said some players will get marketing agreements. There is a difference.

Negotiating with opt outs would basically cement this is a one time release. They aren’t stupid. They refused to negotiate with opt outs

Well that’s a pretty horrendous take - guess it’ll be another decade after this one before they sort it out if that’s the case
