So what police "reforms" do you think we need which would address the situation we're all discussing?
A "don't overreact and be a dick" clause in their employment contract?

I guarantee you an understanding has been reached.

The cop will sue Scheffler and the PGA though, no question.
For what his $80 pants he had to go the ER for?
Or becoming the butt of a joke? Don't Bryan Gillis it before sunrise
I say he use to work for NOPD. Go figure

Have they released the officers name yet?

Where did he get his advanced degree from?
MIT, Georgia Tech?
Oh wait, just a bunch of "courses ".
Lol, most of these guys are just like "lie detector " examiners.

additional 10+ yards
That's just trying to make a situation sound worse. Think about how long in time it takes a car (or even a person) to move 10 yards...almost nothing. This part is silly and just another example of trying to use language to make a mountain out of a molehill. Hell, he could have tapped the accellerator instead of the brake and the car could have lurched forward 30 feet. This is a stressful situation that got out of hand and was almost surely escalated instead of walked back from the edge.

Bryan Gillis was the arresting officer on the report.

but the prosecution is going to run all day long with the alleged dragging the cop along side his car for an additional 10+ yards. I feel bad for the guy.
It'll get dropped. No way they can say with a straight face that the offenses merit 2nd degree assault on an officer.

Darlington was there watching the whole thing. His report directly contradicts anyone being dragged.

I dont follow golf and am admittedly ignorant about the sport.. that said, i thought Colin Cowherd (yea yeah, i know) had a nice rant today about how weird it is that a freaking announcer for an NFL game like Tony Romo or Erin Andrews will have tight security , and escorts, just to work a preseason NFL game .. while you have the NUMBER ONE GOLFER IN THE WORLD driving his own rental car by himself in the dark to a 5am tee time at Valhalla.. seems pretty janky to me.. he said it would be great if golf could get it’s shite together and have one governing body like the NFL “shield” or the NBA, versus having the PGA run one tournament, the USGA running another etc etc.. Now, im not sure how accurate any of that is, but it makes sense to my pea brain at least .

Damn. Straight to the orange suit. He wasn't in there very long. That second degree felony assault on a cop charge is going to be a fun one for him. I don't always side with the cops, as in this situation, but the prosecution is going to run all day long with the alleged dragging the cop along side his car for an additional 10+ yards. I feel bad for the guy.
Scheffler really does not seem the type to purposefully do this in the least. The attorney that was retained is apparently pretty good. I'm willing to bet the charges will be dropped citing a complete misunderstanding with a hefty apology when someone get's in the judge's ear if the PGA threatens to never return.
This isn't even going to trial. All charges will be dropped next week.

i mean, i'm guessing scheffler assumed they saw the logo on the car and were waving him around the blockage so he could make his tee time. the idea he just gunned it and took off down the sidewalk is preposterous when you consider he's getting ready to tee off for an important rounds of golf. that doesn't remotely pass the smell test.
seems like mall cop blart thought there was about to be a dust-up and went roscoe-p-coltrane on his car.

Sure. If the guy is new, the hiring or training process should be changed.
If he’s not new, he had to have done this in the past.
There also clearly needs to be better communication and chain of command in this department to prevent Scottie from ending up with a mug shot in an orange suit from one officer having a grumpy morning either way
