NIL/Portal definitely played a huge role in this since SEC is more competitive than ever. Another factor is the shortened MLB draft and more high school players are making it to college than Minor league.
In this environment, you need veteran and MLB caliber players to win consistently in the SEC, which both team had last year, and each had a huge gap to fill after those players left.
