The only thing missing in this clip is Jack Lemon's character at the end walking from around a corner to say "You're a real a-hole".
"If you ever spent a day, never open your mouth until you know the shot"

I love this movie
Just so many great actors going toe to toe with each other
Jack lemons character is oozing with desperation and panic it’s basically his cologne

Informal name for the film on set - “Death of a frickin salesman”

It was a Pulitzer winning play in 1984, not sure why it would have that informal name on the movie set. I doubt your statement is true.

Pacino definitely earned that Oscar nomination.

For the film adaptation of his Pulitzer Prize-winning play Glengarry Glen Ross—playfully dubbed Death Of A fricking Salesman by the cast, for its colorful profanity—David Mamet added a scene specifically for Alec Baldwin, who appears early on as a real-estate-company slickster sent to deliver the details of a new sales contest.
Here’s some good advise for you from Ricky “You never open your mouth till you know what the shot is.“

He isn’t a seller, he is an order taker.

He is desperate but, OTOH, the leads WERE weak and the office manager was hand picking bad leads for him because he didn’t like him.
He was stuck in a Catch 22 of being unable to sell because he was losing it but also being unable to sell because he was given shite leads or people whose checks would bounce even if he made the sale.
Roma losing his shite over being given a lead for Patel shows what a good salesman thought of the ones currently being handed out.

quote:Exactly, and that's why the movie should have ended after Baldwin's bullshite. Someone should have taken the watch off his wrist, thrown it out the window, and said, "Now it ain't worth shite, just like these fricking leads."

Ed Harris was great too
Roma is cool but of course a little over the top. Not quite a real person.

The Baldwin scene is apparently supposed to be a depiction of both what is wrong with the sales industry and what is wrong with Mitch and Murray’s business.
It was a giant “the reason you suck” speech to the three remaining salesmen by telling them Roma is staying and two of them would be going.
When Levine pointed out that the leads were leak, he got screamed at and told that HE was weak.
Mitch and Murray didn’t want to “waste” the Glengarry leads on the three of them but they couldn’t prove their worth given how bad the Rancho Rio leads were.
Not sure I could see those three selling much from those leads but there was a better shot of that than them selling to Patel, the Nyborgs, etc, who were either not going to buy regardless or who would bounce their check.

All of them are depicting different archetypes.
Roma is the cool ace hotshot currently succeeding
Aaronow is a guy who doesn’t need to even be in the business.
Moss is a whiny scheming a-hole who wants everyone else to take the risk instead of him.
Levine is fricking Willy Loman, full stop, exemplified by him remembering being the top seller for a timeframe only for the office manager to tell him it was actually Moss.
