Second those real ranking values were posted on April 10th before BI returned and played horrible down the stretch and the playoffs. And yes that will affect his ranking but go ahead- hold onto the April 10th ranking to argue your point.
Do you think Trae's season is going to move him up the rankings?

You could say the same with all of these guys, but Trae has the biggest volatility and the most likely chance to have his value completely tank.
Based on what? This could equally be said for Garland?
This is thing you make these “grand” statements and its based off literally your opinion and “eye” test. You need some kind of backing to validate why his value would completely tank more than Garlands if he failed?

I can promise you this he will be above BI in the rankings- Trae was an all star this year and averaged 25 points and near 11 assists.

I already said he can play within an offense.
But you also said it didn’t work with DMitch and thats why he requested a trade. So again can he really play within the offense?

The idea that you'r arguing that zero playoff runs is better than 1 playoff run is laughable.
Exactly what I’m saying lol. Maybe the 7 game series win against a young yearly lotto team was the the real outlier….

yeah only me...other than that informal poll that was just reported on, and Bill Simmons, among others. ONLY me, though.
FYI, not to ruin your argument but if you look at the timeline of the rankings, Trae was ranked 24th before his season ending injury, and BI was ranked 30th in that poll. Trae dropped to 31 and 35 in the two polls after he was already out for the season. So, when they were both playing this season, that poll had Trae ranked 6 spots ahead of BI, and it's not like Trae is some sort of health risk, this is the first season where he didn't play over 80% of his teams games.
ETA: I said season ending, he actually came back for the last 3 games of the season, but those games were after the final ranking that the Ringer put out.

Honestly I would respect him more if he just said “I think Garland is the better fit” but the fact hes trying to prove that Garland is a better player than Trae- its just hard to pull up actually facts or accomplishments to show that.

SFP logic, a guy that has clearly shown with proof he is not a number one, or really proven he is a number two. But is better than the clear cut number one player on a team that has gotten his team to a deep playoff run and playoffs other years is a worse player. A team that I don’t believe had any other all stars on it.
But BI is better. Makes perfect sense. Not to bring politics into this. But with this kinda logic, you definitely pull the trigger for Democrats.

If you think about what is the most realistic upside/best case scenario with Trae/Garland/Murray, the best scenario would be with Trae.

I'm sure if Garland was allowed to just sit on the ball all game, he could. Lots of guys could. BI probably even could.

Trae has the highest ceiling, but also is high risk.
Garland has a decent ceiling, but is also a risk with injury.
Murray probably has the lowest ceiling, but also has the highest floor, IMO.

I know this doesn’t matter to us basketball guys but for ownership and pels marketing- its so much easier to get a fanbase hyped for Trae Young/Zion than it is for Murray and Garland.
Not saying that should at all be a deciding factor but if the choices are on the table and ownership wants the fanbase to get excited for season tickets- wouldn’t surprise me if they nudged Griffin to get Trae.

Murray is extremely interesting to me. He was a dude in San Antonio, I feel like if you get him into a system he could return to that San Antonio form, but it's risky. If we could somehow guarantee San Antonio Murray I may put him above all of them.

He's just a woefully inefficient scorer. This season I believe was his most efficient season, and it still wasn't close to even average efficiency.
Before this season, he was also always a very poor 3pt shooter, so I'm not sold that he'll come in and keep that 36% number up either. It wouldn't be surprising if that went right back to 33% next season.

think this is the disconnect. Given everything involved, on and off the court, I don't think Trae is a top 25 player. I think he's closer to 40 than he is 25, to be honest. I would have him somewhere between 32-36ish. I would have BI pretty close to that as well. I think everyone we're talking about here, Trae, BI, Garland, Murray, are all hovering around the same area. Same tier sort of deal, give or take.
This is just dumb. Trae is the 32nd best player and not the 25th. Do you realize how dumb that sounds?
And you don't trade for Garland just because he is signed for longer. You get the best possible player while also taking fit into account.

Trae has a higher ceiling that Garland, I'm not really sure how that is even arguable. Because he has actually done it. He had a season averaging close to 30 points I think.
He also has some bust in his boom.
Garland is really good but I can't help but feel he is getting a bit overrated. He is not even in the same stratosphere as his own teammate imo.
To me it all depends on acquisition cost for either.

Trae was the 8th highest paid guard and garland was 15th, so the contracts aren't that much different.
I'm taking trae over garland all day and I'm a big garland fan.
He just doesn't have the same juice that trae has.
Give me trae, oo, and bogdanovic and I'm happy.

In a vacuum no doubt to me at all.
But what will it cost to acquire either, and what does that cost you from acquiring to compliment them.
That is the question to me. If acquisition costs are similar I will probably get Trae.
If going with Garland saves me something and allows me to get a Center, I am going Garland possibly.
if Trae costs less because of all the smoke around him, then it seems simple.

Garland isn't as good as Trae and Klutch.
Trae has attitude issues but is a far superior player.
Advantage, Trae.
