Still decent but will be Morgan City in a few years.

Driving down Main, Barrow and Lafayette streets commercial property close and/or abandoned.

Some nice residential areas but baby boomers going fast.

It makes no sense why it can’t be at least decent. It’s smack dab in the middle of the state. It’s got the red river. It’s good terrain (I.e doesn’t flood). You can be in almost any other LA city in 2 hours. This is the state government failing to bring businesses to Alec

How can yall seriously sit there and compare towns like new llano to Shreveport? We’re talking medium to big cities only here. Every state has po dunk small towns.

This is the correct answer and I don't think it's particularly close.

Just curious on why you think Galliano is any worse than Golden Meadow or Cut off or Larose?

FIFY. Alexandria will never be more than what it is right now. There is certain apathy that runs through town and for whatever reason there is ZERO interest to ever make the town better than what it is. No investment in infrastructure, zero interest in hitting the pavement and trying to bring real jobs to town, etc..

A lot of the old money in town is just set in their ways and they don't want anything to upset their apple cart while they hang on for the last few years of their existence. Unfortunately, they have screwed the future generations of the town with their views and leadership.

I say this as an outsider who lived in town for 11 years and got out 6 years ago. Alexandria will remain what it has been forever, a town with great potential that will never be realized because no one WANTS to make it a reality.

Well, there are lots of towns in Louisiana that are just trailer parks.
