Just get across a river.
Prattville is nice, Wetumpka is much improved, Millbrook isn't bad. If you don't mind a drive, there's Auburn or for a less crowded and expensive option, there's places around Lake Jordan like Holtville or east of Montgomery like Pike Road and Tallassee.
The Montgomery ghettos still leak trouble in all directions, but it's much better than living in that pit.
