Anyway he offered to "give" us like 150K to help buy our first house. I turned it down because he was the type of guy that would hold that shite over your head and belittle you with it until the end of time.
Would you not offer to help your children if you worked extremely hard and created a successful business?

Sure would suck to have a super wealthy father in law.
It definitely could come with upside,,,but also so major drawbacks. Depends on the dad but I'd wager you wont be making many of the major decisions in your life for the next 30+ years.

Don’t listen to these philosophers. You are doing the right thing. Run the other way. She will never make a good wife, and a good wife is worth a lot more than her dad’s fortune. If you win the heart of a good woman that is all the fortune you will ever need.

Just wait until yall get married and daddy cuts her off. Then you are royally screwed

Yeah so this can be really great or really horrible depending her father’s move after marriage. If you can win him over, you’ll probably have to eat a little shite every now and then, but you’ll be doing it in the penthouse of a fine hotel.
If he’s of the “she’s your problem now” line of thinking, run as fast as you can
This is the correct answer....
If she's truly spending that much, then I doubt the father would ever cut her off, so your likelihood of Option A seems higher than Option B.

Hypergamy says you are doomed. You are literally fighting against human nature. Find a girl in your socioeconomic sphere and profit.

It is safe to say I no longer see a future with this girl given she has previously explained her intentions of being a housewife. My thoughts and prayers are with her future husband.
You dodged a bullet.

Correct. Money makes a normal person lose their shite.
You will NEVER keep this woman happy. You will never make enough money to fill the hole she is going to want to fill with unneeded shite her entire life. Then, what will be even worse, is that she will teach YOUR kids that the key to happiness is spending money on stupid shite you don't need. Then your spending will double or triple depending on how many kids she wants to spoil.
Trust me, I lived this shite. She will never be happy. She will then make you miserable if she's not getting the new car every few years, new purses, etc.
The cycle just repeats.
