Look at his career OOPS and ERA. He's up there with the best pitchers in baseball, and some of the best of the past (e.g., Pedro Martinez).
That said, it's possible the Dodgers may have a different plan after the injury, but pitchers are extremely valuable in baseball. So it would make sense to have him on the mound in some capacity if he's still at, or even just somewhere near, that high of a level.
