Biggest Flaw for Carr?

If he could correct one thing, what would it be? Also, do you think that it would make much of a difference in his overall performance?

Competent play calling, establishing a rhythm that he can get confidence from.

Converting red zone opportunities into TDs

He is Captain Checkdown for a reason, so I guess start with him having the confidence to put the ball downfield into tighter windows.
But, a lot of his issues in NO could be attributed to Carmichael being atrocious as an OC. Even Jameis wasn't slinging it around under him, and he's a guy that doesn't mind gripping and ripping it. Hopefully Kubiak sees something and can make it work.

cannot move within the pocket to avoid pressure is Carrs biggest flaw

If he gets rattled in a game, he rarely recovers.

He holds on to the ball too long which causes the majority of his sacks

This is an interesting point. Acknowledging that he struggled with this in Oak/LV, but heard an interview with lance Moore & Underhill (may have been a different reporter) and they were talking about how complex offenses were Pete's demise and how Pete would call long drawn-out plays, have multiple major personnel changes and how this had an adverse effect on red zone efficiencies. Kubiak's offense appears to be simpler which should allow us to see more efficient offense, as well has better red zone results.
They also talked about lack of motion, taking out players live Olave in 3rd & short situations, and a comment about 2 TE sets but I don't recall the context.

Doesn't process the defense fast enough so he holds to ball.

I think he has adequate talent if the staff can scheme appropriately to match what he can do.

After the number of brutal hits he took, his slower processing may be CTE. The NFL didn’t appear to discourage some of his egregious late hits.

Agreed. But what also doesn’t help is when you have long drawn out plays, need to wait for major personnel changes every play; you’re breaking the huddle late which gives you less time to process. Basically, feeding into a weakness instead of trying to build on a strength and attempt to mask/aide the weaknesses.

I don't know if it was play calling, protection, or his reading a defense, but it seems we were almost always throwing to the wrong route for the situation. If it was third and 10, we were checking down. If it were third and 2, we were throwing a bomb. In the redzone, it seems we did nothing to scheme our best players open and settled for fades and low percentage throws.
I tend to put most of that on Carmichael.

This happens with every NFL team and Carr is a veteran QB not a rookie. I hope Kubiak helps but I also think its silly we need an off coord to help a vet QB process plays.

Stop holding the ball too long and get the ball out quicker will fix a lot of sacks and problems with the OLine protection

Y'all have identified a few things that can at least be influenced by a new play caller and let's hope that all improve or are fixed...
If he could correct one thing I'd have to say his perceived attitude. I don't know if he has a RBF or what, but it seems like he's always pissed at someone. I get a selective arse chewing (see Tom Brady), but every time something happens, he is pissed at someone. I think it would go a long way in wanting to play with him.

This. I felt like he held the ball too long last year and took a ton of sacks that really could have been prevented by throwing the ball away.

I thought he could correct Pete's crappy offense being a veteran. Didn't happen.
A decent oline is vital.

Not really something he can correct but has below average arm talent. He throws a decent deep ball and he has decent accuracy when he gets his shoulders square and everything goes according to plan. Certain qbs just have a pure throwing motion and can flick the ball exactly where they want it. They can throw from different body positions, arm angles, and on the run. Some quarterbacks rely on athleticism or size. Some rely on football IQ. Some have better vision than others. Carr really struggles from being overly stiff and goofy. Can't put touch on short throws/screens and can't make the high difficulty/tight window throws. He doesn't have the best field vision either. This is why he struggles significantly in the redzone. This is not really something he can really change. Spencer Rattler had better arm talent at 18yo than Carr does now, its just something you have or you don't.
Carr does some things well. Carr is built, he's strong, tough, solid athleticism, avg decision making ability, great deep ball, loads of experience, he does well on PA and boot legs. But he just lacks talent, he always has and he always will.

No leadership, and doesn't have that killer instinct . That entire gene pool are a bunch of overpaid bums.
