This is exactly correct. Many on here seemed to form their opinion of Bruce based solely on overplaying of Born in the USA and more recent political outspokenness. But nothing Seger has ever done compares to Bruce’s stretch from the Wild Innocent and E Street Shuffle through Born in USA. Kafka is correct that early Seger was very different (and better) than his later, more popular work. Seger’s later work changed and directly mimicked Springsteen. Of course you could argue that Springsteen mimicked Dylan which is probably true lyrically but musically there was a big difference especially with Clarence’s sax
