The enclosure and pusher fan are purposely designed to circulate enough air through it. Tell your neighbor there is no need for that and if he wants more airflow to stick a box fan on the intake side.

No they don't


Running a large load in hot conditions is a problem but the "let them cool down for a few hours" is bs. Within 30min to an hour, the temp of the generator and engine will be a function of load and ambient air temp. After that time, they don't continually get hotter if the load and ambient don't change. All you're doing is heat cycling equipment by by shutting them off.

Yea I'm not sure where this started but I know to check oil level it's generally recommended to turn them off and let them cool for like 15 minutes. Like you said, no need for 1-2 hours.
