Looking for suggestions on where to go with 3 couples in Monterey or Carmel. We prefer scenery over cuisine but in a perfect world would like a nice Mexican restaurant or italian since we are having seafood and steaks the night before.
TIA

La Bicyclette in Carmel by the sea. I could not find a Mexican restaurant I thought looked good in Carmel. Grab drinks at the bar at la playa, the outdoor seating probably has the best view of the ocean in the city. Unfortunately didn’t find any other outdoor areas you could see the water from.
Very cool city, you’ll enjoy.

I love Carmel. The town is really quirky. There aren’t any street addresses and no chain restaurants. How the town is set up isn’t really like beach dining you would see at a resort or a resort town. But all the little restaurants are really cool and all have their own little special ambiance.
You are going to be hard pressed to find Mexican like you are probably thinking. Cultura on Delores St. is Oaxacan food and is excellent. La Bicyclette on Delores was already mentioned. I wouldn’t really call it Italian, it’s more European, but it’s very good. I like Dametra Cafe on Ocean as well it’s Greek food full with people busting out in song and breaking plates and stuff. Their wine list is pretty good as well.
Monterey is different. it’s more commercialized. It’s also more kid friendly. Whenever we swing over to Monterey we are normally just eating something quick so I’ll leave Monterey suggestions to someone else.

Folktale Winery & Vineyards is very good for dinner and has beautiful views of surrounding mountains and lost of outdoor seating. Great atmosphere. Wine is pretty good too.

We were there last month.
Little Napoli on Delores (right off Ocean) was fantastic Italian and the bar has great drinks and a cool vibe so try to sit in there.
