re: Admittedly dumbass question about internet service

Some of the wiring closets I've been in should have been charged that in multi unit office buildings for CAT5. There was some place on College/Foster that I walked into, (approx 10 stories) and it was a WTF moment. Close to 100 offices, nothing labeled, JFC.

My concern for the OP is that the fiber company will vastly overcharge him for trenching 75 yards, when you could hire a local dude to do it for 10% of the price. It's clearly not the typical 20 yards from the street to the house DMARC as it would be in a subdivision. I know terminating fiber used to be a massive pain in the arse decades ago, but 50m of fiber from Monoprice is only $41. Depending on the provider, you may end up OK, you may end up unnecessarily priced out.

$50k to an office building (assuming not in the middle of nowhere)? F'ing hell.
