I thought the House already approved their own version which allowed 6 mg THC per serving and set regulations for it.

So does this bill go at the dispensaries or the gas stations? Seems like their way of shaking down one or the other.

Working on the real important stuff this session.
Tax reform? Fiscal restructuring of state government? Decentralizing government to give more control and responsibility to local government for their needs?
Nah...let's ban fake weed edible gummies.

I can promise you the 4th Floor is 100% in support of this bill. Hell, they may have even written it.

Gummies and vapes are available... but the kids who get busted at my school for weed are always using buds. It is cheaper and easier to get. All these types of bills do is drive kids to the dealers who will present them with "better" options.

Newell Normand and some "drug expert" were talking about this legislation yesterday morning on WWL. It is all a bunch of grand standing, pearl clutching nonsense.
The "drug expert" was talking about 1 child that had seizures from a hemp product and 1 child that died. This was throughout the entire U.S. Not once did they compare the child morbidity and mortality rates caused by hemp derived THC to the child morbidity and mortality rates caused by alcohol, .
And knowing that marijuana derived THC and/or hemp derived THC are available in nearby States, why would these idiots choose to hurt Louisiana businesses.
This issue is clearly controlled by alcohol industry lobbyists

Guess my money will keep going to a hemp company in North Carolina

The dispensaries where you need a referral/prescription from Dr. (card) shouldn't change. The gas stations, vape stores will get crushed because any THC will be banned. The biggest casually is the successful brewers and local hemp companies that will be shut down.
This bill is protecting the pockets of the booze industry and marijuana dispensaries and growers.
Eta: I guess brewers isn't the right word because you don't typically brew a seltzer.

fricking honky cracker repubes. Jesus Christ. Fix the million other state problems first.

We all need to start calling our reps, and telling them it’s time to ban alcohol, because we need to keep our children safe. Too many children dying each year in this state, because of the use of alcohol.

Heard that.
Also the “expert” was very vague about whether she was talking about this stuff (OTC hemp D9) or full blown marijuana. Much panic mongering about “who knows what all other stuff is in there!”
Blatantly disingenuous.

Not sure how I'll respond to this.
A 20-pack of gummies is 13.99 in town.
I'm not in position to pay an arm and a leg at a dispensary, and I'm not interested in smoking anything.

Soon we'll find out that Pressly has a big stake in prescription dispensaries

“Protect the children?” The same children running around committing thuggery? Louisiana has more important issues, lol. No wonder it will always be a backwards state.
Posted on 5/14/24 at 2:47 pm to BilbeauTBaggins
I'll just continue to buy quantities of gummies in the States I go to vacation to. Great job Louisiana

A state that ranks 50th in most metrics…. I’m glad to see our lawmakers are focusing on the really important issues.
Legalize it, tax the shite out of it, have a very transparent chain of command of that tax revenue of which 100% goes directly into our school system. That's how you "protect the children", not by eliminating an industry. Other states will just get our money.
These people voting to make this illegal and don't mention alcohol are truly evil, vile humans. They are on the take and should be thrown in jail.
ETA:
They should do this with alcohol too. Vice taxes are 100% re-allocated to school system. Having better schools is the long term strategy for improving the state.

These idiots (and they're here in Kentucky too) just don't have the presence of mind to understand they're inviting their tax dollars to walk right out of the state. It's been legalized in too many places at this point and if the Feds really are considering changing its scheduling so that profit can be run through the federal bank system, they're doing nothing but cutting their nose off to spite their face.
