These inflation numbers are smoke and mirrors kind of like unemployment (excluding working age people who can work, but just refuse to). No way inflation is 18% over the last 3 years. There is no damn way. Must be doctoring the numbers and everyone not living under a rock knows it.
So are all the numbers smoke and mirrors, or just the ones from certain years?

So you're saying Trump was an inept leader that couldn't make his own decisions? Basically a pawn of the Deep State. Got it. You should vote for him again.

I thought inflation was transitory?
It doesn't take an Ivy League economics degree to know that. Everyone on this board said it

Cost of living as a percentage of income is higher than it was for older generations. The failure to acknowledge this is why people hate boomers.
I’m not a boomer, that’s because the younger generations tends to live in urban areas far more than any generation before them. That isn’t up for debate

The problem that I have with inflation.. it could get down to zero but companies will hold on to that shite for as long as they can with price gouging - that’s what I’m afraid is going to happen when (if) it ever comes down

Sure I can.
Boomers shite all over every other generation if we complain about the economy. They call us lazy and entitled. Yet when the economy fricks them over, we're supposed to have sympathy for them?
frick em to hell and back.

It's 100% up for debate.
The economy IS NOT THE SAME AS IT WAS 30-40 YEARS AGO.
Again, no one gives a shite about your false sweeping generalizations.

Now back to regular programming.

I'm basically retarded at economics. But I have 2 thoughts: 1) the boomers were bought off while equity offshored industry, poisoned their kids, and turned the US into a casino. Yet they blame us. Those of us who escaped autism and myocarditis and found a way to meet our basic needs will not miss them when they finally depart this stage. From greatest to worst generation in one step. 2) money is so unreal to me now. When they just shat out cash to everyone using IRS info, or when they spiked the child tax credit, all pretense was lost for me. So while I respect the need to play the game to acquire what I need to survive, I do not respect the game. I believe all of this will collapse in my lifetime. It has been engineered to collapse.

The new target will be 3%
If we get a real inflation number (i.e., not the currently gamed number that seeks to exclude most real world factors [food, energy]), I could live with this.

The inflation we have experienced the last 3 years is BOTH Biden and Trump's fault. One started it the other poured gasoline in it, and continues to do so.

This is ridiculously way off base. Kids don't want to learn a skill or trade. That means having to wake up and be at work at 7. They want to program a computer or do come kind of content creation (Youtube, TikTok). I know. I'm a small business owner and there aren't any kids that want to learn how to fit and weld something without making $30.00/hr off the bat.
Get off the Internet and pay better wages.

Food has to be up at least 50% and that is a necessity for everyone.

When Walmart pays people $15 an hour to watch me checkout, then you have to realize the pay required to get someone to actually sweat and come home sore from physical work is significantly higher than $15 an hour now.

Minimum wage has not kept pace with inflation, and many employers perception of what is a fair wage is tied to minimum wage. For example, when I got out of High School minimum wage was $4.25, today it’s $7.25. Yet, we can easily say cost of living has more than doubled, but because minimum wage is so low apparently people think a skilled trade job should start about at the same pay it did when I got out of high school over 30 years ago.
