So it sounds somewhat like LSU is going against the grain as it relates to the rest of the main players in the SEC.

We will see what happens. Mark me down as skeptic.

Did LSU fix the defensive depth chart this offseason? Nope.

Not really. Ole Miss is the outlier as far as how many transfers it routinely takes.

Personally, I like the fact that BK is more concerned with building a culture & a winning program with his approach. He’s not in “win now” mode like some other coaches (Kiffin) are. He’s got a 10 year plan to win multiple championships, not just win one & retire.

quote:

The Tigers targeted TCU transfer Damonic Williams and Michigan State transfer Simeon Barrow. Belzer said Williams’ market value would have been around $400,000 in the December transfer portal window, but low supply and high demand in the spring raised prices. Williams and Barrow both asked for seven-figure deals, multiple sources said, numbers that LSU did not come close to matching.

“We will pay players, and we can afford to do so,” the source close to the collective said, “But the player's philosophical mindset has to align with the coaches for us to be willing to do so.”

Bayou Traditions had enough money to meet their asking price, the source said, but it did not offer that much because of the amount of eligibility they have left (Williams two years, Barrow one) and concerns those deals would have upset locker room chemistry. Williams chose Oklahoma, Barrow picked Miami and LSU stuck to its philosophy.

“There's a bigger picture to all of this,” Thomas said. “It doesn't come down to one player, right? It comes down to a holistic, comprehensive approach that if you mismanage the funding and you go ahead and you overspend in some areas on your team, how do you come back and build the rest of your roster around that, because word goes around, right? All of a sudden, you can have a lot of issues.”

If you read the article, they are about to get the "regular" fans involved at the $50 - $100 a month level. This will expand the fund.

My concern is that they expect the Louisiana kids to sing "Hey Fighting Tigers" & get on board for good ole LSU & a hamburger. The problem that scares me is that the Texas & Georgia's coming in with steak money to cherry pick. That will be the difference between 12-0 & 10-2.

Eh, they are definitely on the lower end, but maybe a little behind considering what they need. LSU has taken 7 transfers to date. For comparison, Georgia - 8, Tennessee - 8, Florida - 13, Alabama - 12, Ole Miss - 19, Arkansas - 19, Mizzou - 12, South Carolina -22, Kentucky - 11

Did LSU blow 1/8th of its pot so idiots like you could feel good that we signed the highest ranked DT who actually SUCKS stat wise and won’t be worth 1,500$ much less 1.5 million.
So please stop with this idiotic notion that we broke or Kelly is being stubborn. The numbers are right there for you to read and comprehend and if you can’t, I doubt you can because MUH DIDNT SIGN DT, then ask someone to help you. Jesus

Do you think you would be a skeptic with any strategy they pursued?

There is a downside to each.

Wrong Georgia & Alabama & now Texas have built their teams through recruiting. The only true sign of paying players was TXam and we know how that went. CBK, SW,& AT will figure this out. DL is a problem right now duh, but 7 figures for 2 average DL in the portal won’t win a Natty and especially destroy LSU. They won’t open the bank for these dudes but you best believe they’ll open it for Stewart a born and bred Louisianimal. Whatever kind of NIL we have will be on full display- they’ll push all the chips in. I’m not a skeptic but a P&G true believer in this recruitment.
