It sounds like the players controlling the tour side believe they can outlast LIV. If LIV doesn’t get OWGR points it’s a potential strategy, since ultimately elite players want to play in the majors.
Also highly dependent on the Saudis eventually wearing down or running tired of spending money. Not sure that will happen.

The Saudi's want to make money and hobnob with the world's billionaires who own sports franchises. That means the Arthur Blank's and John Henry's of the world, not Greg Norman. They have the spare cash to wait for theright deal to come along, but they will not just keep sinking their funds into a money pit forever.

The PGA Tour players are making more money now than ever before, and there is more money invested on the Tour than ever before. Plus, a handful of great golfers and lots of good ones have vacated themselves off of the OWGR list, leaving more spots on the list for them and more chances at the majors, plus more opportunities for guys to win regular tournaments. From their perspective, LIV is the best thing to ever happen to the tour.

We know they won’t, but LIV having guys like Ogletree, Puig, Gooch, & Burmester playing in a major this weekend helps their argument. Augusta might do their best to keep the non-top 50 US guys out, but they want guys like Niemann, Puig, & Dean playing.
