I haven’t eaten at a Red Lobster since I was 10. I remember vividly, it was game 5 of the 1985 World Series. The Cardinals were going to win the series…until they didn’t. They were up 3 games to 1 going into that night. Then it all turned to shite, much like the meal after the biscuits were all gone.

The Red Lobster closest to me smells stale when you walk in and everything feels sticky. I think eating in my workshop is cleaner.

NOOOO

Hopefully they stay solvent enough to continue selling the cheddar biscuit mixes at the grocery store.

Red Lobster's cash flows have been hit by expensive leases

One of the early things Golden Gate Capital did when it bought Red Lobster from Darden was separate out the real estate owned by RL into a separate entity and then sold it off. The leases set up with new owners were probably better initially as part of purchase or had to redone in past couple of years without having as much leverage.

I'd like to blame Joe, but Red Lobster is closing because their food is frozen and disgusting.

It’s been frozen and disgusting for 56 years. The question is what’s different in recent years compared to the previous 54?

I don’t think they are consistent across locations. The last time I ate at one here in TN was actually good. Before that my experiences were mediocre.

Possibly another Covid knockout. I ate at the one in Jackson last year. The service at chain restaurants took a hit after 2020. They can't even find bodies now. It's over.

Oddly enough, even if they close their servers will get the same amount of tips.

Endless shrimp ended them. Americans can eat up some free shrimp.

They must have bought cheap imported shrimp, otherwise shrimpers would be getting more than 50 cents a pound at the dock.

I only ate at Red Lobster one time. Wasn't that bad, but wasn't memorable either.
