I don't disagree if the ball was right in front of the plate, but this throw cam from the middle of the diamond and was essentially the same angle as a throw from a third baseman on a bunt or slow chopper, albeit from closer in and the correct positioning is with the right foot for a right handed first baseman to allow for maximum flexibility and stretch radius.
