It's very simple. You can't be part of the federal government at the highest level and also want to kill it/shrink it/starve it/take away power from it.

Nobody can.

Of course you can. You would. I would too. Milei is doing it now in Argentina.

To do it in the US, you most likely have to NOT CARE about the threats against your life, or the lives of family members, if you do.

There is no other reasonable explanation of watching forty years of this behavior from elected officials, who only revert to their campaign thoughts after they leave office.

Then I guess you'll have to contend with the reality (according to your claim) that Trump chose not to the first time around.

I don't think that's what happened. I think he found out that you really can't. Not by yourself. I don't know how much power the president of Argentina has, but I understand the powers of the POTUS.

For example, I think someone pulled him aside after him talking about eliminating entire departments of the federal government and explained to him that so many people are employed by the government that significantly reducing it would cause an economic recession for the whole country.

Which is why his net reductions ended up being something like 2%.

That's what I think.

You apparently think he just made an empty campaign promise he had no intention of keeping because...I have no idea why. You'll have to fill that part in. The part where Trump benefitted somehow by not making good on that promise.
