Interesting thing mentioned in the article - Tea Party was at its peak in about 2012... we ended up with a reboot version of Newt (who was really just grifting) and Santorum as the alternatives to Romney 
once Cain faded into obscurity
Would have been a good opportunity for a conservative to grab the torch. Maybe that would have been a much better setup for Scott Walker than 4 years later.
