Driving north from Mobile to Montgomery is one of the worst FM radio dead zones that I’ve ever encountered. That’s my prime complaint about driving in the state. Bonus: Their Welcome Centers are attractive, and staffed with people whose drawls will put you in mind of dripping syrup. Sweet!

What are you talking about about? I-65 takes you straight to Mobile. If you're going to Florida panhandle, get off on 231 in Montgomery.

At least there is scenery like swamps and gators you can get glimpses of. Now that northern part of the state looks like Typical Ms. Or east TX. And they act just like that as well. RedNecks

Glad to know you went to PCB. Gulf Shores and Orange Beach are already too crowded.

I disagree. Alabama's a beautiful state.
Nice beaches, mountains, caves, swamps, rivers. genuine southern belles, Conecuh Sausage- and yes- a Buc-ees. Good folks, too- despite the disagreements on who to root for during college football season.
All that alone is enough to keep a fella busy for a while.

It is a pretty boring stretch, but it's rural interstate. Lots of trees and a few farms and towns.I drive I-85 north of Atlanta a few times a year. From Clemson to Charlotte to Statesville (I-77), it's nothing but traffic and commercial buildings.
I'll take rural interstate any time.
