I will admit I don’t know anything about the MLB draft. I understand losing leverage after your junior year but for fricks sake…what leverage does this kid have at this point? He can’t even get in on a midweek game. Is it looking like his only option is to come back for another season and figure out how to be the guy?

One thing LSU fans love is a good redemption story. I’m pulling for him either way. He was instrumental in us winning the CWS last year. Can he be fixed?

He can throw 96 and has a curveball that checks the analytics boxes. He’ll get drafted and some team will try to fix him.

He's not playing college ball in 2025.

I get that. I guess that’s where my limited knowledge of the draft comes in. Theoretically could he come back, have a Hagen smith type season, get drafted in the first round, and get low balled on the money side, similar to what he would make if he were drafted this year? I don’t know how all that works.

Flipping burgers. I’m sure he can curve the hell out of some patties between flips.

Idk it's a very similar situation to Christian Little last year in my opinion. He might get drafted late and choose to come back to college one more year and bet on himself. Idk if Jay would want him back or not

That’s kind of where I was leaning, but admittedly not really having a clue how the process works. Also not having a clue of CJJ would even want him back at this point. I hope he does.

He’ll be drafted in the top 5 rounds most likely, he’ll go to the minors

You must of missed the thread I started about Jake Latz pitching for the rangers. If scouts see something they like, they will take him. Will he sign? Depends on his number and theirs. He could transfer pitch somewhere else that would be the redemption story. I don’t think he comes back regardless of draft. Why would he? Start fresh somewhere else.

Can you explain why this is different than Christian Little last season? Not saying youre wrong, just trying to see the difference. Both were projected very highly early in their careers based on talent alone. Both struggled in college. Little ended up being drafted in the 19th round and felt that he could do better. Now Hurd did have that run at the end of last season where he shined, but Little also has the advantage of being younger.

Because Hurd’s raw pitching numbers are exactly what scouts are looking for In prospects

No clue where he goes, but I'd bet my house he's not back at lsu next year. That's probably best for both parties.

Top 3 round draft pick; sign and get nice nest egg before retiring from baseball in 2 1/2 years after unsuccessful minor league career
