His teams have all lacked fundamentals. They are terrible defensively. The pitching has been a weakness since he’s been here as well. So he inherited a loaded lineup that went off last year and a generational pitcher that blew up.
He’s a decent recruiter and a couple guys he brought in show promise but it’s been mostly misses. I’ll ask what SEC schools would be willing to trade their coach for Johnson?

Im beginning to question his ability as a top tier coach as well. Our team this has looked pathetic in so many phases of the game. Extremely disappointing season to say the least…

He won 17 SEC games in his first year after joining LSU late and having no true SEC weekend caliber starter. That's hella impressive.

I am so sick of this Jay Johnson hate. Bring that shite next season if it happens again. I doubt it does.

He works really hard and wonders around in his undies late at night drinking orange juice whenever the team loses!

Not everyone is built like that!

It’s one year man. Just drink your beer and relax. I’m not happy either but you can’t judge the dude too negatively yet.

A championship…last season. I get that this season has been disappointing. But he’s getting another year, likely more. If he built last year’s team (and he did), then he can do it again.

I’m wondering if the prolonged season last year affected his preparation for this season in a way he didn’t anticipate (I.e. his ability to recruit, or simply evaluate recruits). There’s no way he simply forgot how to coach in one season.
