IKR. This place is absolutely insane.

Why is anyone even comparing the other two current LSU coaches to Jay Johnson?

He has been to Omaha 3 times in the past 7 seasons (covid season cancelled)

Not many coaches can do that. Especially at different schools.

It’s an admin issue. We don’t have any sports people making hires, they’re only looking for people they can sell our gullible fans on. What we get are guys who are on the backside of trends that don’t want to or can’t change with the times. Kelly is an old coach who can’t catch up to the top programs and never could. JJ is a religious zealot to a type of baseball that’s on its way out of the game. McMahon is about a decade behind the current trends in his sport. What they do is buy old stock that makes you feel safe but in truth is on shaky ground instead of seeing what’s coming down the pike because they can’t sell innovation to our dipshit fans.

You're wrong on at least 2 of those coaches. I hope JJ will not be on his 4th pitching coach at LSU when this season ends. Doesn't matter if 2 of them got much better jobs but there needs to be some continuity at pitching coach.

Florida's coach right now is having a similar season, but nobody is calling for his head.

Jay has already matched the only stat that matters there in less than 3.

And Orgeron won a national championship in his third full season, which is less time than it took Saban and the same amount of time it took Miles.

Orgeron's teams completely fell apart after that one good year with a loaded roster and a generational transfer who went #1 overall in the draft. Like LSU baseball fell apart this year after having a loaded roster and a generational transfer wo went #1 overall in the draft.

I'm not saying Johnson is the second coming of Orgeron, but it will be up to him to prove he's not.

Curious as to who assembled that roster. If only we knew

Paul Mainieri primarily with a little help from Jay Johnson.

It’s up to you to say he isn’t the next oregeron. Until you do, that is exactly what you are saying

By that logic, Paul deserves a lot more blame for this year too then.

It wasn’t all JJ if that’s your point.

It’s never all the head coach. So what’s your point?

Nah. Most of Mainieri’s guys are gone now. This is year 3 of the Jay Johnson era. Very few of Mainieri’s guys are around compared to years 1 and 2.

Well considering the Juniors were signed before jay was hired, that’s part of the problem.

Paul last class. produced Pearson and Dutton.

That’s not exactly a recipe for success.

Well there’s your problem. Paul’s guys would be the upper class men now. And they are absent. Explaining things to y’all is worse than elementary students lol.

3 years is ample time for a new head coach to bring his guys in and cover any deficiencies from the previous coach. Especially in the transfer portal era.

These same standards will apply to Brian Kelly this year as it is year 3 for him. Put up or shut up. No more crediting Orgeron for any good or bad things that happen.

IDK, Jay has been building a pitching staff in the fly every year he’s been here.

Would you rather him go get a bunch of Sophmore last year or Paul Skenes?

if you look at most championship teams they aren’t mostly Freshmen, Soph, Juniors.

Listen, you little turd. 3 years is ample time for a coach to put his own team together. Any good things that happen from year 3 and on are the responsibility of the current coach. Jay Johnson’s first class would be juniors right now. Also, he could have signed transfers over the last 3 years to fill holes in the team.

Everywhere he has been his teams are below average defensively and with Pitching! Only difference this year is this team can’t hit!

Ok so please show examples of the genius moves little Johnson made the last 2 series to drastically turn the season around. He must have figured out how to get Hurd to be a pitcher but then lost that again this year.

You made the idiotic claim you could have coached last year’s team to a championship. Why don’t you make your argument first before asking for me to show my work

He had Kling and Jones getting tons of playing time last season until dugas and beloso forced their way into the lineup and eventually Pearson
