If your gym doesn't have free, secure daily lockers you will have backpack bros.

You can hear their Stanley cups sloshing and dinging around against their variety of containers for their 3 course lunches and myriad of snacks to power them through their grueling 8 hour shifts shuffling paperwork.

This is me. I work in an office all day and I bring my Yeti cup and 3 glass Tupperware containers in a backpack for breakfast and lunch that i weighed and portioned out plus a pre-workout snack since I go to the gym right after work. I'm not going to be one of the fat old fricks that warms up a packaged frozen dinner in the microwave every day and wonders why I spend so much on health care

My gym has cubbies instead of lockers. Some folks don't feel ok leaving their stuff in an open cubby. I change in the car and only take my car keys in with me.

My gym has cubbies for bags as well as lockers. Last year, I had my belt stolen from my bag in a cubby while I was lifting.

Did you not bring your own lock as well?

I take it to mean cubbies have no doors.

I assuming when he says cubby that's its open, i.e. no door, nothing to lock.

That's the way my gym is. My gym is fairly small though and never a lot of people in it. So not too worried about stealing studd. I just bring my keys, headphone case that I throw in the cubby.

The biggest positive about my gym is a stand-alone cardio room.

Keeps me from being exposed to noisy lifters.

I lift, too. It's usually not crowded at all. Makes it worth it to pay more than the discount chains.

There is no way in hell I would go to Planet Fitness regularly.

The gym attracts a lot of weirdos.

People working out barefoot.

People carrying gallon jugs.

Men wearing sleeveless tanks that show both nipples.

Gym selfies are apparently socially acceptable.

Men who lift their shirts in front of others to flex their abs in the mirror.

The list goes on and on.

You think I am just going to carry my interset gear in my pocket?

Noticed that a lot myself. I’ve seen people use it for their stupid tripod set up, some people bring their own equipment (handles, fat grips, rope, etc.) and others have it filled with pointless supplements that don’t work.

I’ve also noticed a trend of people pulling out their canister of pre-workout and throwing a scoop of dry powder into their mouths then swishing it around with a shot of water. People are attention whores and it’s not just the younger crowd either.

My gym is always missing everything. I carry a tricep rope, hooks, single arm cable attachments, lifting shoes, liquid chalk, towels, squat belt, and barbell clips.

I carry a backpack.

Contents:

Gloves

Wrist wraps

Various gym equipment like a tricep rope because I don’t want to look for one.

Grips

Stretching bands

Headphones

Water

Notebook

Sweat towel

I bring my gym bag with me and keep it close by because there’s things in there I need sometimes, bottle water, lifting straps, wrist straps, etc. I just make sure it’s out of anyone’s way.

As I stated in the op, there are plenty of lockers in the locker room and plenty more outside of the locker room near the front desk. Yet still plenty of backpack bros and ladies. It seems weird. There may be some legitimate reason like grips, towels, other gear, etc. but most are carrying extra large, overstuffed backpacks that they never seem to actually open for any reason. Maybe I'm just old fashioned for actually using the lockers
